He has illustrated over three hundred  books, and is known for his own picture books for children and his work with writers such as Michael Rosen, John Yeoman and Russell Hoban, and not least, for his long collaboration with Roald Dahl. In recent years he has also created works for public spaces, notably for a dozen hospitals.
