Henry Fawcett Primary’s Journey with The Kids Network

At The Kids Network, our partnerships with schools are at the heart of everything we do. We know that creating lasting impact for children means working hand in hand with the teachers and pastoral teams who understand their pupils best. One of our longest-standing partnerships is with Henry Fawcett Primary School, where the relationship with TKN has grown from an exciting opportunity to a deeply valued part of the school’s support network.

When Henry Fawcett first joined the programme, the school saw it as a chance to offer something new to their pupils – a mentoring opportunity that focused on joy, curiosity, and confidence.
Initially, the programme was offered free to schools, which helped them get started. But as the years went on, the value of the mentoring became clear – so much so that when TKN introduced a small charge to help sustain the programme, Henry Fawcett made sure to continue. For them, the impact was too important to lose.

What makes The Kids Network special for Henry Fawcett is the way the programme focuses on every child not just those who meet a specific threshold of need. The school has found that the combination of care, consistency, and child-led mentoring gives pupils space to explore who they are and what they can do.

The year-long structure also allows time for trust and confidence to grow. Over the course of twelve months, mentors and children for meaningful connections sharing stories, exploring new experiences, and building self-belief.
Teachers at Henry Fawcett have seen children come out of their shells, become more open in class, and start to see the world beyond school in new ways.“Confidence and broadening horizons,” as Rachel puts it – “they love sharing stories and the experience makes them feel really special.”

For the school, that transformation makes every bit of effort worthwhile. The programme slots seamlessly alongside their pastoral and wellbeing work, helping pupils develop resilience and joy that extends beyond the classroom. It’s an investment that continues to pay off – for children, staff, and the wider community.

And as Rachel reflects, it’s a partnership that’s stood the test of time:

“We have been with TKN since the start and never had any child regret taking part! It was valuable enough to us to find a way to pay once the charging was introduced.”

At The Kids Network, we’re proud to work along side schools like Henry Fawcett Primary where teachers and mentors come together to make sure every child feels seen, supported, and special.
